Around Cricket in his 360° Degrees!

2004-05 Season is considered as one of the greatest Summers for the English under Michael Vaughn.  England went to South Africa having won all seven Test matches they played during the English summer. A Proper Cricket Follower never Forget that tour as In One day Series  A Legend born in South Africa announced his arrival for England, Kevin Pietersen was the Man of the series in the shorter format.

Even if the tour is famous for KP's arrival, I still remember that tour for one guy. The One who made  his debut in Port Elizabeth Test, One who had to witness his captain going for a golden duck from the non strikers end,the Only One. Long shiny golden hair, he was a brilliant fielder like Rhodes,Gibbs. At that time he was treated as a 'Rohit Sharma', the one who do not use his talent well. He Was lazy and get out at critical times. Even when South Africa were growing, chasing 400's ,he was silent at other end. Only few noticed him at that time, I was one.

Now after 14 years, when he announced his retirement, he covers 360 degree on this planet. Abraham Benjamin Devilliers is undoubtly one of the most complete batsman we have seen in cricket.  50+ averages in the longer as well as in 50 over format is something incredible. He can be a 'Snail' at tough tracks as well as Cheetah in flat wicket. Its difficult to believe that the one who made 162 off 66,149 off 44 is the same guy who scored 43 off 297,33 off 220. Devilliers did whatever team demands. He can keep, bat, field, bowl,he did everything for the team. But He was one among few who leave the cricket field without any big triumph in his name, not even a IPL. But Is it the time? I strongly believe he got a team with a brilliant captain for next worldcup. He could have wait for that as he deserves it and this team strongly needs a player like ABD ,even at 34 there is no one who can replace him at that position. Will he make comeback like Messi? Just like Argentines the Proteas really need him in England.

He holds the records for the fastest 50 (16 balls), 100 (31 balls) and 150 (64 balls) of all time in One Day Internationals by any batsmen, and also holds the fastest hundred by a South African in Tests and the fastest 50 by South African in T20Is. Among all his favourite moments,Attack 217 at Motera still remains my favourite. The 14 years of revolving ABD leaves a legacy that no one can fill,so we keep saying "WHEN YOU BAT, BAT LIKE ABD"!
